Liz Collin, local singer from Bismarck, ND returns home for a Saturday show with Red Eye Ruby

Minneapolis band Red Eye Ruby is returning to the lead singer's hometown to play a show at the Laughing Sun Brewing, 1023 E. Front Ave., at 8 p.m. Saturday. Bismarck native Liz Collin performs as lead singer and guitarist.

Red Eye Ruby performs music incorporating themes from old jazz and classical chamber music with a modern edge. The Bismarck show will feature songs from Red Eye Ruby’s first two albums. The group released its second album, Siren Song, in November at the Hook and Ladder Theater in South Minneapolis.

Siren Song highlights the mythology of the sirens from Homer's "The Odyssey." Sirens were women with bird-like qualities whose singing lured men to their watery doom. The group blends voice, cello and guitar with the alternating sounds of trumpet and piano to create music that is original and pop sensible. Upright bassist Brian Padavic join the band for the Bismarck show.

Red Eye Ruby performs around the region and in Minneapolis, where it has a residency the first Saturday of every month at the historic Palmer's Bar, located on the West Bank of Minneapolis.

A schedule of shows can be found at the band's website, www.redeyeruby.com.
